Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Cyrics (the "App"), the Cyrics support website, and related services operated by Steven Hsu ("we," "our," or "us"). By downloading, installing, accessing, or using Cyrics, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App or services.

1. Acceptance of Terms

You may use Cyrics only if you can form a binding agreement with us and only in compliance with these Terms and applicable law. If you use Cyrics on behalf of another person or organization, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms for them.

2. About Cyrics

Cyrics is an iOS app for real-time synchronized lyrics. It connects with Apple Music and Spotify to identify your currently playing track and display matching lyrics across supported iOS surfaces, including the app, Lock Screen, Dynamic Island, widgets, and floating windows. CarPlay support is glanceable only (Live Activity surfaces and, on iOS 26+, an optional small widget where available); Cyrics does not provide a standalone CarPlay app or in-car playback controls.

Cyrics may also provide:

• Lyrics translations and romanizations where supported by the device and selected settings
• Cyrics Pro features such as enhanced lyrics, custom appearance controls, and Live Activity updates
• Journey features that let you save routes, song pins, lyrics snapshots, and selected photos locally on your device, then export a share image when you choose
• Optional social features that let you create a Cyrics profile, find friends, share track or Journey posts, send direct messages, give kudos, report content, and block users
• Private Stations that let signed-in users collaborate on a temporary Apple Music queue hosted and played from one participant's device

Cyrics does not provide music streaming access. You are responsible for your own Apple Music, Spotify, or other music service access.

3. Use of Services

Cyrics is provided for personal, non-commercial use. You agree not to:

• Use Cyrics for any unlawful, harmful, or infringing purpose
• Copy, reproduce, distribute, scrape, or commercially exploit lyrics, music metadata, artwork, or other third-party content shown in the App
• Reverse engineer, decompile, modify, resell, sublicense, or redistribute the App or any part of it except as permitted by applicable law
• Interfere with, overload, bypass, or disrupt Cyrics, its lyrics services, Live Activity push infrastructure, or related servers
• Use bots, crawlers, scripts, or other automated systems to access the App or extract data from it
• Upload, import, create, send, or share content through Journey, posts, messages, profiles, or other social features that is illegal, abusive, defamatory, invasive of privacy, sexually exploitative, harassing, threatening, hateful, or infringes someone else's rights
• Use Cyrics in a way that distracts you from driving, walking, cycling, or other activities that require attention and care

We may suspend or disable access to Cyrics features if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or created risk for other users, the App, or third-party services.

4. Intellectual Property

Cyrics, including its code, design, interface, branding, graphics, and original app content, is owned by Steven Hsu or licensed to us and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Subject to these Terms and Apple's App Store terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Cyrics on Apple-branded devices you own or control.

We do not claim ownership of music, lyrics, album artwork, artist names, track metadata, or other content supplied by Apple Music, Spotify, LRCLIB, other lyrics sources, or rights holders. Those materials remain the property of their respective owners and are displayed only for personal, non-commercial use within Cyrics.

5. Music Service Integrations

Cyrics integrates with Apple Music through MusicKit and Spotify through the Spotify iOS SDK and related APIs. These integrations are used to read your currently playing track, playback state, and related metadata so Cyrics can fetch and display matching lyrics.

• Apple Music features are subject to Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions.
• Spotify features are subject to Spotify's Terms of Use and any other Spotify terms that apply to your account.

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, performance, or policies of Apple Music, Spotify, or other third-party services. Their features may change, stop working, require separate accounts, require paid subscriptions, or become unavailable without notice.

6. Lyrics and Third-Party Content

Lyrics are fetched from LRCLIB and, for Pro features, from Cyrics-hosted lyrics services that may query additional lyrics sources. Lyrics, translations, romanizations, track metadata, and artwork are provided for convenience and personal use. We do not guarantee that lyrics will be available, accurate, complete, timed correctly, translated correctly, or lawful to reuse outside the App.

7. Journey and User Content

Journey lets you record routes, song pins, lyrics snapshots, and selected photos on your device and export a shareable image. You retain ownership of photos and other original content you add. You grant Cyrics only the limited permission needed to store, process, display, and export that content within the App at your direction.

You are responsible for the content you add or share, including making sure you have the rights and permissions needed to use any photos, locations, names, lyrics snippets, or other materials included in a shared Journey export. Shared exports may reveal location, route, listening, photo, or other personal details, so review them before sharing.

8. Social Features and Moderation

Cyrics social features are optional and require a Cyrics social account. You are responsible for your profile, posts, direct messages, kudos, friend requests, and other content or activity you create through those features. Do not share content that violates these Terms or another person's rights.

Cyrics may use automated checks, user reports, blocking tools, and developer review to help keep social features safe. You can report posts or messages and block other users in the App. We may remove content, restrict accounts, delete friend relationships or requests, preserve reports, or take other reasonable action when needed to enforce these Terms, comply with law, or protect users and the service.

Stations require a signed-in Cyrics account. The host must have Apple Music catalog playback available and keep Cyrics foregrounded for reliable operation. Members may add, reorder, and remove upcoming songs, and may control playback when the host enables that setting. A Station code or link is a private invitation credential; you are responsible for sharing it only with intended participants. Stations are deleted when ended or after host inactivity, and playback or queue handoff may fail because of connectivity, device state, catalog availability, or third-party service behavior.

9. Subscriptions and Purchases

Certain features require a Cyrics Pro subscription. Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not process or store your payment card information.

• Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Your account may be charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID account settings.
• Refund requests must be submitted to Apple and are handled under Apple's refund policies.

Prices, trials, features, and subscription plans may vary by region and may change as permitted by Apple and applicable law.

10. Age Requirement

You must be at least 13 years old to use Cyrics. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use Cyrics only with permission from a parent or legal guardian.

11. App Store Terms

Cyrics is distributed through the Apple App Store. Your download and use of the App may also be subject to Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions and Apple's standard licensed application terms unless a separate custom license applies through App Store Connect. Apple is not responsible for providing maintenance or support for Cyrics except as required by applicable law.

12. Disclaimer

CYRICS IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AVAILABILITY, OR ACCURACY. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT CYRICS WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR COMPATIBLE WITH EVERY DEVICE, OPERATING SYSTEM VERSION, MUSIC SERVICE, OR SONG.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, STEVEN HSU AND CYRICS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR USE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE CYRICS, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

14. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Steven Hsu and Cyrics from claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from your use of Cyrics, your content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of another person's rights.

15. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated Terms and revise the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of Cyrics after updated Terms are posted means you accept the changes.

16. Termination

You may stop using Cyrics at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to Cyrics or specific features if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms, caused harm or risk, or if we discontinue a feature or service.

17. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles, except where applicable consumer protection laws require otherwise.
